It’s been too long…

Hello everyone. I know, I haven’t posted in a long time, but I sort of have good reason for it…

I returned from Australia (almost two months ago now, actually), and during my last two months there, I really didn’t receive that many postcards because they were being sent to my house at that point. Then once I got home, I was in a whirlwind of getting ready to go back to school in just three weeks, and that’s where I’m at now.

Unfortunately, while I was in Australia, my parents (read: Dad) decided to buy a new desktop computer, and throw out the old laptop, which had all my scanned postcards on it. I’m pretty sure I didn’t have them anywhere else. Why they were on my parent’s computer and not mine, I’ll never know, but the point is, all my postcard scans are gone and I have to redo everything. Now, that’s about 1,000 postcards that I have to scan onto my computer (I’m just guessing, I haven’t counted in forever, and don’t plan on it without a lot of help).

To top it off, I now have my senior project that I have to work on, and that is a big deal (the paper and a creative part). Luckily for me, I thought of a creative project that I can incorporate postcards and Postcrossing into! I’ll be designing my own set of postcards from photographs that I’ll be taking over the coming weeks (potential topics include: my university (we have a castle on campus!), horses, nature, and a potential trip to Israel that may be happening in December 😀 ). Then those postcards will be used on the day that projects are presented. People will be able to write their own postcards to people (for Postcrossing), and I’ll send them out through my account. I guess it’d be sort of like a Postcrossing meet up (although I’ve never been to one), with only one person sending postcards.

Now, even with all that stuff going on, once I get my newer Postcrossing postcards registered (there are a good amount, and more will be coming, because I’m using them in my project!) I will get around to posting them on here! I may be a bit slower, because Senior year and all, but it will get done.

I think that’s all I have for now. Have a great week!

Postcards in My Mailbox 6-22-16

Thanks to everyone who helped me out by taking my friend’s survey, she really appreciated it! I’ve continued to receive postcards in Australia since changing my address back to the US, but have also received plenty of postcards in the States, too. I am just going to mention the Australia postcards I’ve received right now (I’ll do one big post for all the new US postcards when I get home in August). In the past few weeks I’ve got one postcard from a new country, and received a record of 25 postcards during the month so far (and there’s still a few days left)! I received another swap postcard that I’ve been eagerly looking forward to getting in the mail. I have also started doing direct swaps and lotteries through Facebook, which I will mention on here when I receive them (again, that will have to wait until I return home).

Help Me Out…

My roommate is currently doing an assignment on Foreign Ownership of Australian Agricultural Land and she is conducting a survey to gather public opinion. If possible would you be able to take 5 minutes to complete this survey and share it with your friends. It would be a great help for me and her! If you’re not from Australia, you can still take the survey, just put “no” for the first question (or put yes, and pretend you’re an registered Australian voter). Once she gets a few more responses from the survey, I’ll update the blog with more postcards, of which I have receive a few more since my last post.

The link to the survey can be found here. Thanks again for your help, she really appreciates it!
